I love watching the sun rise and set.
The high clouds over the Green River catch the suns last rays.
What a sunrise! A mackerel sky, amazing scenery, and my camera.
The colors in the sky and the grand scale of the earth falling away some 2000' provided an amazing evening.
From the Grand View Overlook you can see what is known as the White Rim, white rock that frosts hundreds of miles of cliff band.
One of my first HDR images. Even with a 2-stop GND filter, it was hard to capture this scene without compositing a number of images.
A few miles back into the southern part of Canyonlands is a gorgeous meadow that at the time I was there had some spectacular clouds overhead.
Sunrise at 'Dead Horse Point' is fairly high on my list of things to be seen in your life.
I think I\'ve caught the sunset here 3 or 4 times; and in all honesty, it\'s an event, one that takes time to savor over as many days as you can afford.
One of the countless amazing sunsets that can be seen in the Canyonlands.
Due to the arch being slightly offset from the cliff and somewhat dependent on the cloud cover at dawn this arch really does glow with a reddish hue for about 15 minutes.
False Kiva is a hidden gem in Canyonlands NP. Not mentioned in any park literature, presumably to preserve the site, it offers a breath-taking view in late afternoon.

"Canyonlands Photo Gallery"

Primarily shot in Southern Utah with the exception of a few from Monument Valley in N. Arizona. I spend a good bit of time in the desert as I grew up in the thick woods of the Appalachia the stark contrast always fascinates me.
