Looking north to a darkening sky and storm that will leave scant water in these parts.
Shot from a few miles out as a sand storm began to rage on the far side of the dunes I thought this a great tilt shift opportunity.
Following the prevailing wind when the playa is damp enough for the wind to move the rock, this rock has left a gentle ess.
Aptly named feature in Death Valley the colors pastel in nature are amazing to see eroding from the hillside.
Just after sundown the playa still glowed with reflected light off the clouds.
This landscape stretches for miles in every direction. You're 282 feet below sea level and looking up and 11,000 foot peaks. An amazing place to experience in the solitude of a sunset.
Where the earth displays more color than I've seen in some art shops.
The race track is not something you can truly believe until you lay eyes on it for yourself. Over time, wind and the small amount of rain that falls here have provided a surface that finds these rocks wandering across a high desert playa. "Death valley Photo Gallery"

I've only had the opportunity to spend a short amount of time here. But it is truly, despite its name, a beautiful place.
